What does tog rating mean and which tog should I choose for each season?

Tog is a measure of how well a duvet traps warmth, not how heavy it is, so a high-tog duvet keeps you snug without necessarily feeling weighty. As a rough guide, a 1.5 to 4.5 tog duvet suits warm summer nights, a 9 to 10.5 tog duvet works well through spring and autumn, and a 12 to 13.5 tog duvet keeps you cosy in deep winter. Pick your tog around how warm your bedroom runs and how warm you like to sleep.

What is the difference between feather and down duvets and synthetic ones?

Feather and down duvets offer a soft, naturally breathable feel with an excellent warmth-to-weight ratio, so they stay light yet cosy and help regulate temperature through the night. Synthetic and microfibre duvets mimic that softness using fine hollow fibres, are typically easier to wash at home, and are a sensible choice if you prefer a hypoallergenic option that is kinder to sensitive sleepers. Both keep you warm; the choice comes down to feel, care and budget.

What is an all-season duvet and how does the popper system work?

An all-season, or all-year-round, duvet is two separate duvets in one. You usually receive a lighter summer-weight duvet and a slightly warmer spring or autumn duvet, joined together with poppers around the edges. Use the lighter layer alone in warmer months, the medium layer in milder weather, and popper the two together for a higher combined tog that keeps you snug through winter. One set adapts comfortably across the whole year.

What is baffle box construction and why does it matter?

Baffle box construction uses internal fabric walls, or baffles, to create three-dimensional pockets that hold the fill in place. This stops the down or fibre filling from shifting and bunching, so warmth stays evenly distributed across the duvet rather than gathering at the edges. The practical benefit is no thin, cold spots in the night and a consistently cosy, well-loft duvet that drapes neatly over your bed and keeps its shape over time.

What duvet sizes do you offer and how do I match one to my bed?

We offer duvets in single, double, king and super king sizes to suit standard UK bed dimensions. As a simple rule, match the duvet to your mattress size, then size up if you share the bed or like extra fabric to tuck around you, since a more generous duvet reduces tugging and draughts. If you prefer a fuller drape over the sides of a divan or deeper mattress, choosing the next size up gives you that softer, more luxurious finish.

How should I wash and care for a duvet?

Always check the care label first, as washing instructions vary by fill and size. Many synthetic and microfibre duvets can be machine washed at home on a gentle cycle, while larger or feather and down duvets are often best taken to a launderette with a roomy commercial machine. Dry your duvet thoroughly, tumble drying on low with clean dryer balls to keep the fill lofted, and air it regularly to keep it fresh, breathable and cosy for longer.
