Got Single Duvet Covers & Set Questions? We've Got Answers
A single duvet cover set typically includes the duvet cover itself plus one matching pillowcase, giving you a coordinated look straight away. Fitted and flat sheets are usually sold separately, so you can pick the depth and colour that suit your mattress. The duvet and pillow inners are not included, as these are bought to your own warmth and firmness preference. Always check the product description to confirm exactly what is in the box.
The difference comes down to width. A single duvet cover is around 137cm x 200cm for a 90cm bed, a small double is roughly 200cm x 200cm for a 120cm bed, and a standard double is about 200cm x 200cm for a 135cm bed. The key is matching the cover to your duvet rather than your mattress, since duvets are sized generously. Choosing single keeps the cover snug on a narrower bed without excess fabric pooling at the sides
Our single duvet covers come in crisp cotton, easy-care polycotton and soft brushed cotton, so you can match the feel to the room. Breathable cotton offers a cool, hotel-style finish, while polycotton is hard-wearing and quick to iron, which makes it practical for a child's room or a busy guest bed. Brushed cotton is wonderfully cosy and warm to the touch, ideal for colder months and snug sleepers who like a softer surface.
Turn the cover inside out, then reach inside and grip the two top inner corners. With your hands still inside, take hold of the matching top corners of the duvet, then shake the cover down and over the duvet so it falls into place. Fasten the buttons or zip along the opening, give the cover a gentle shake to settle the filling evenly, and smooth out any creases. A single size is light and easy to handle this way. At Belledorm most of our duvet covers have our swift swap hand holes which make changing a duvet very simple.
Always follow the care label, as guidance varies by fabric. As a rule, cotton and polycotton single covers can be machine washed at 40 degrees with similar colours, then tumble dried on a low to medium heat or line dried. Wash brushed cotton on a gentle setting to keep it soft and cosy. Fasten the buttons or zip before washing to protect them, and iron while slightly damp if you prefer a crisp finish.
A UK single duvet cover measures around 137cm x 200cm, sized to fit a standard single duvet without bunching or hanging too far over the edges. It suits a single bed, which is roughly 90cm wide, making it the natural choice for children's rooms, teenage bedrooms, box rooms and guest beds. If you are buying for an existing duvet, check its label and match the size before ordering for a neat, well-tucked finish.
