What bedroom accessories does Belledorm offer?

Belledorm's accessories range covers divan base wraps, headboard wraps, bedspreads, bed runners and cushions. Base wraps cover a divan bed base in minutes with an elasticated, Velcro-fastened fabric panel. Headboard wraps fit over an existing headboard to change its look without re-upholstery. Bedspreads sit on top of the finished bed as a decorative covering. Bed runners and scarves add a stripe of colour or texture across the foot of the bed. Cushions are available in styles that coordinate with Belledorm's bedding ranges.

How do I update the look of my bed without replacing it?

The fastest way is to cover the parts you can see. A divan base wrap covers a worn or dated bed base in faux suede or jersey fabric - it fits in under five minutes with no tools. A headboard wrap slides over the front of an existing headboard and is held in place by an elasticated back panel. Together, a base wrap and headboard wrap can transform the appearance of a bed for a fraction of the cost of a new bed frame or headboard. Both are available in 15 or more colourways to match your bedding.

What is a bed runner?

A bed runner is a narrow strip of fabric that sits across the foot of the bed on top of the duvet or bedspread. It adds a band of colour, texture, or pattern without covering the full bed surface. Bed runners are a styling detail borrowed from hotel bedrooms - they break up a plain duvet cover and give the bed a more finished, dressed look. Belledorm bed runners and bed scarves are available in faux suede and coordinating fabrics, in widths designed to sit proportionally across double, king, and super king beds.

Can I match accessories with my Belledorm bedding?

Yes, across most of the range. Belledorm's faux suede base wraps, headboard wraps, bed runners, and cushions are available in a shared colourway palette, so you can coordinate multiple accessories in the same shade. Some cushion designs also coordinate with specific duvet cover sets - the product pages indicate which sets have matching cushions available. For bedspreads, Belledorm offers quilted, embroidered, and jacquard designs that complement both plain and patterned bedding.

What size base wrap or headboard wrap do I need?

Base wraps are sized to match your divan bed base: single, small double, double, king, and super king. Measure the base itself, not the mattress, to confirm the correct size. For split divan bases (common in king and super king), you may need two wraps. Headboard wraps are sized by bed width - single, double, king, and super king - and are designed to fit most standard rectangular headboards up to approximately 10cm thick. Check the depth of your headboard before ordering, as very thick or ornately shaped headboards may not be suitable.

Are Belledorm accessories machine washable?

It varies by product. Faux suede base wraps and headboard wraps can be machine washed at 30°C on a gentle cycle and reshaped while damp. Most bedspreads can be machine washed at 30–40°C depending on the fabric - check the individual care label, as some quilted or heavier designs may need a larger-capacity machine. Bed runners and cushion covers should be checked individually, as some are removable and washable while others are spot-clean only. In all cases, avoid tumble drying on high heat and iron on the reverse side if pressing is needed.

What is a valance sheet?

A valance sheet is a fitted sheet with a fabric skirt that hangs down from the edges of the mattress to cover the bed base. It combines two functions in one piece, the top section works as your sleeping surface, while the skirt (sometimes called a frill or platform) conceals the divan base beneath. Valance sheets are sometimes known as bed skirts. They are available in both frilled and platform styles. A frilled valance has gathered fabric around the edges for a traditional, softer look, while a platform valance has a flat, tailored panel that sits flush against the base for a cleaner finish.

What is the difference between a platform valance and a fitted valance sheet?

A platform valance sits on top of the divan base, underneath the mattress, with a flat skirt panel that hangs down the sides. You place your fitted sheet on top of the mattress as normal. A fitted valance sheet combines both in one, it fits over the mattress like a standard fitted sheet and has the valance skirt attached, so there is no separate sheet needed underneath. A fitted valance sheet is easier to change because you do not need to lift the mattress, but a platform valance gives a smoother finish under the mattress and stays in place more securely between washes.

What is a base wrap and how does it differ from a valance?

A base wrap is a modern alternative to a traditional valance. Instead of a fabric skirt hanging from the mattress, a base wrap stretches directly around the divan base itself, held in place by elasticated edges. The result is a smooth, tailored look with no folds or frills. Base wraps are easier to fit than platform valances because you do not need to lift the mattress, the wrap simply pulls over the base. Belledorm's base wraps are available in faux suede, jersey cotton, and crushed velvet, and they work with divan beds that have drawers, headboards, or ottoman storage.

What size valance sheet do I need?

Choose a valance sheet that matches your mattress size, single, double, king size, or super king. The skirt drop is a standard depth designed to cover a typical UK divan base. If you are choosing a base wrap rather than a traditional valance, Belledorm's wraps are available in depths from 28 cm to 43 cm to fit shallow and deep divan bases. Standard UK divan base dimensions are: single 91 × 191 cm, double 137 × 191 cm, king size 152 × 198 cm, and super king 186 × 198 cm. If your bed is a non-standard size, check the dimensions on the individual product page before ordering.

Do I need to remove the mattress to fit a valance?

It depends on the type. A platform valance sits on the divan base underneath the mattress, so you will need to lift or remove the mattress to put it on. Once fitted, it stays in place and only needs to be changed occasionally. A fitted valance sheet fits over the mattress like a regular fitted sheet, so the mattress stays in place. A base wrap is the easiest option of all, it stretches directly around the divan base without touching the mattress, so there is no lifting required. If ease of fitting matters to you, a base wrap or fitted valance sheet is the more practical choice.

Will a valance or base wrap work with a divan bed that has drawers?

Yes. Both valances and base wraps are designed to work with divan beds that have built-in storage drawers. A platform valance hangs freely over the drawers, so you simply move the fabric aside to open them. Belledorm's base wraps are made from stretchy fabric with elasticated edges, so they fit neatly around the base without covering drawer fronts or blocking access. Base wraps also work with beds that have a headboard screwed into the base, you do not need to remove the headboard to fit the wrap. Ottoman beds are also compatible; the wrap stretches over the base while the bed is in its closed position.

What fabrics are Belledorm valances and base wraps available in?

Belledorm's traditional valances are made from 200 thread count polycotton percale and 200 thread count Egyptian cotton, both of which are easy to wash and available in a wide range of colours — the polycotton platform valance comes in over 15 colourways. Base wraps are available in three fabric options: faux suede, which has a smooth, tactile finish; jersey cotton, which is soft, stretchy, and machine washable; and crushed velvet, which adds texture and a more structured appearance. The fabric you choose depends on the look you want, polycotton and jersey cotton suit a clean, simple bedroom, while faux suede and crushed velvet create a more furnished feel.

Can I use a valance instead of a fitted sheet?

A fitted valance sheet acts as both a valance and a fitted sheet in one, so yes, if you choose this style, you do not need a separate fitted sheet. The top section sits over the mattress just like a standard fitted sheet, while the skirt covers the base. A platform valance, however, sits underneath the mattress and does not cover the sleeping surface, so you will still need a fitted sheet on top. Similarly, a base wrap only covers the divan base itself and does not replace your bedding. If you want fewer layers to wash and change, a fitted valance sheet is the most practical option.

How do I wash a valance sheet?

Most valance sheets can be machine washed at 40°C on a standard cycle. Belledorm's polycotton and Egyptian cotton valances are straightforward to care for, wash with a mild detergent, avoid bleach, and tumble dry on a low setting or line dry. Because platform valances sit under the mattress and do not come into direct contact with skin, they do not need to be washed as frequently as fitted sheets, once every few months is usually sufficient. Base wraps can also be machine washed and are easy to remove and refit. Always check the care label on your specific product for exact washing instructions.

How much do Belledorm valances and base wraps cost?

Belledorm valances start from around £8 for the Easy Fit Frilled Valance, with the 200 thread count polycotton platform valance from £17.50 and the Egyptian cotton platform valance from £25.60. Fitted valance sheets start from around £21.50. Base wraps range from £22.99 for jersey cotton to £29.99 for faux suede, with crushed velvet from £27.20. Prices vary by bed size, larger sizes such as king and super king are at the higher end of each range. All orders qualify for free UK delivery, and free returns are available on all products.
